Origin: Hopi.  According to Hopi Dictionary: Hopìikwa Lavàytutuveni, the prefix koyaanis means “corrupted” or “chaotic”, and the word qatsi means “life” or “existence”, literally translating koyaanisqatsi as “chaotic life”.
